5.25 oz molasses (or sugar beet syrup, date syrup)
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup raw brown sugar (e.g. demerara)
2 5/8 + 2/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
